Pet owners face David and Goliath battle resolving vet complaints as the current system is ‘designed to protect vets’, Which? finds.

Pet owners are often put off making complaints about vets when things go wrong - and find that the odds are stacked against them by a system that is not fit for purpose, Which? also found.

The consumer champion found that in a survey of over 1,000 pet owners, most have had some kind of problem with their vet practice in the last 2 years. They found that 23% had an issue with the quality-of-care and16% did not know how to complain in the first place with very few pet owners escalating their complaint due to the inadequate available options. Due to the very complex veterinary complaints mechanism which is designed to confuse, intimidate and belittle pet owners for greed. Taking into consideration that there are currently an estimated 17.2 million pet owners in the UK, that makes 2.8 million pet owners in the UK do not know how to make a complaint about their veterinary practice.

THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE: The Pet Owners Defence Society are here to help, advise and support you to submit an honest and professional complaint against your Veterinary Practice and others.
