How we can help you make a complaint to your Veterinary Practice

WHY CHOOSE US:

The Pet Owners Defence Society are here to help and assist you with making a complaint against either your Veterinary Practice or others. You do not have to spend a fortune when trying to gain justice for your pet and we are definitely not money motivated. We are fully aware of the current complex veterinary complaint mechanism to stop pet owners from making any complaints as we are currently involved in our own case. We believe that its criminal that approximately 2.7 million pet owners feel that they either can't make a complaint or do not know how to make a complaint against their vet. We are here to change this and the more pet owners who want, need or intend to make a complaint have the continued confidence and trust that we are here to help and guide them in making that complaint. The more complaints we make, the more resources Veterinary Practises, the RCVS, VCMS and VDS will have to spend to deal with us. We all know how much all these organizations love PROFIT and that they currently put this before the caring, trusting service that we all should receive, so let's hit them where it's going to hurt them the most. We can assure you that the 'group owners' and 'indemnity insurers' of these organizations will not want them to be spending more time and resources on another 2.7 million complaints and will therefore start asking questions!

Question: Do Pet Owners need a Solicitor to complete a 'Complaint' to a Veterinary Practice? Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons? (RCVS), the Veterinary Client Mediation Service? (VCMS).

Answer: No, you definitely 'DO NOT' need to use a 'Solicitor' to make a 'Complaint'. Their complaints processes are allegedly designed to be accessible, and the VCMS is specifically designed and advertised as being free, non-legal alternative to litigation.

PLEASE NOTE: It has been reported that there are 'Legal Firms' offering their professional services to their Pet Owner clients for fees ranging from an hourly rate of £80 plus VAT (£100) to their calculation of fixed fees on the basis of a day rate of £600 plus vat (£720)

The veterinary complaints system can feel daunting, often designed to deter pet owners from pursuing legitimate concerns. We stand out because our advocacy is born from personal, painful experience. We have personally navigated every step of this rigorous system after the negligent treatment our own beloved dog suffered, which ultimately led to her death. This first-hand understanding gives us unique insight and an unwavering commitment to help you.

There is an alarming pattern where pet owners feel powerless in situations of incompetence or carelessness by veterinarians. According to recent surveys, over 60% of pet owners have reported dissatisfaction or concerns with the treatment their pets received at veterinary clinics, yet many feel there is little recourse available to address these issues effectively. This is compounded by a lack of standardised reporting processes and insufficient oversight mechanisms for veterinary practices and others.

Your complaint journey

When you come to us, you are often at the crucial initial stage of building your complaint. We understand that the system is rigorous and can feel designed to deter pet owners. We're here to guide you through every step, ensuring your case is robustly prepared.

Achieve clarity and better standards

After using our services, we hope you'll feel confident and informed enough to submit your complaint effectively. Our ultimate goal is for you to receive a clear explanation of what happened to your pet and, more broadly, to contribute to achieving better standards and care in veterinary practice for all.
